SecureMyResearch
Description
Securing research data, especially meeting new, stricter regulatory and other cybersecurity requirements in grants, contracts, and data use agreements is becoming a challenge for both IU researchers and campus units that support research. To reduce their cybersecurity and compliance burden and help them navigate this increasingly complex landscape, the Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research (CACR) provides SecureMyResearch, an IU service co-sponsored by the Offices of Vice President for Research and IT. It leverages the combined expertise of IU’s cybersecurity and compliance experts to essentially bake security into research workflows using a workflow-based security framework developed by CACR.
SecureMyResearch offers the following services to help you conduct your research securely, regardless of whether you are working with regulated or unregulated data.
- A cookbook, a one-stop, self-service resource that provides recipes for common research use cases (e.g. share data with IU and external collaborators) that have security and compliance baked in. You will enter keywords related to what you want to accomplish and see a list of matching recipes. Clicking on the desired one will provide step-by-step directions that help you secure your data.
- One-on-one consulting, a single place you can go now to get help with any cybersecurity and/or compliance issues. Simply email securemyresearch@iu.edu.
- Advocacy, a vehicle to communicate your needs and frustrations. SecureMyResearch will take your feedback to the appropriate IU stakeholders.
